Anonymous asked: So my eyelashes can get pretty long with mascara (im addicted to maybelline) but the problem is the very tips of my eyelashes sometimes fold over at the tips have any sugesstions?
Have you tried an eyelash curler? I’m trying to visualize this and think maybe your lashes need a little curl (a good way to keep the curl is heat your curler with a blow dryer for a couple of seconds and CAREFULLY press on your lashes) or maybe you need a new mascara. I know with some that I use, the product builds up at the end and flakes off.
Anonymous asked: Thanks for answering my greasy/pimply face question! Since I don't wear makeup, can I still use all that stuff?
Yup! The green gel cleanser thing from MAC is amazing too. I wash my face with it before bed and when I wake up my face is oil-free! Pretty much if you control the oil then you should stop breaking out (and if you exfoliate!)
Hope this helped
Anonymous asked: I like you.
you’re crazy
Anonymous asked: Every day I wake up with a new deep pimple on my face or chest and my face is always greasy. I'm pretty clean, I scrub every night. I've tried alcohol pads but it made it so much worse. I thought maybe you could suggest something since you're into cosmetics.
Yeah definitely don’t use anything with alcohol in it because it strips your skin of all the moisture. It’s like pouring lemon juice on a wound! I have the same skin type and after a couple of hours, my skin is super oily too. I recommend trying a mattifier to put under your makeup as a primer or to wear alone. I have tried the Sonia Kashuk mattifier ($15, I think) from Target, but lately I’ve been using Oil Control Lotion from MAC ($17?) and the green tea oil/makeup cleanser/remover from MAC as well (I don’t remember the price on this, I think for a bottle it may have been $23? All products are available online or in stores).
Also, overexfoliating isn’t good for your skin either. If you use a face scrub with granules/beads (like St. Ives), use coarse ones 1-2 times a week and a softer cleanser every other day. Or invest in a basic face brush to scrub away the grime at the end of the day. It’s soft and won’t be excessively abrasive to your skin (or, if you can drop between $90-$160 on a Clarisonic brush, DO IT. I bought one for $96 and I love it). Keep exfoliating fewer times a week but using a brush wouldn’t be bad if you used it daily (I bought one for $5 at Sephora).
As for treatment to pimples, use something with Salicylic Acid or Benzoyl Peroxide (BP is too harsh on my skin, so I use SA a couple times a week). I have found that eating healthy and taking Triple Omega or Fish Oil supplements help too. I don’t eat or like fish, but the fatty acids found in fish are AMAZING for your skin and hair. Also, try taking Zinc, for that is very beneficial to your skin as well (just be careful when taking supplements and follow directions very carefully).
Here is my skin regime:
Daily
- Wash face day/night with MAC green tea cleanser OR Cetaphil with a face brush/Clarisonic
- If I’m removing makeup at the end of the day, I use makeup removing wipes first and then proceed with the above
- 2-3 times a week I use an alcohol free toner (I’m currently using the Glycolic Graprefruit Cleansing Lotion from Mario Badescu) after washing my face
- 1-2 times a week (honestly sometimes I go through phases where I do it every day) I use Freemans or Boots face masks in Avocado/Oatmeal, Cucumber or the Volcanic Mud Mask
- For a moisturizer, I use First Aid Beauty’s Daily Face Cream because it is light, non-greasy, noncomedogenic (won’t clog pores) and is paraben-free (no harmful chemicals)
That’s pretty much all I do and I haven’t been breaking out all that bad. Definitely invest in some kind of face brush (you get what you pay for) and if you are suffering with acne scarring like myself, get a microdermabrasion kit. Not only will it help smooth your skin and fade discoloration, it also helps prevent breakouts (from sloughing off dead skin cells that will clog your pores) and minimizes oil/sebum production. PMD Microdermabrasion kits are about $170-ish and you can buy them online for full price at their website, or slightly discounted on ebay or something.
I hope my response helped! I know it’s crazy long
Anonymous asked: Kamisha! School Advice! NEEDED. So currently, I'm a Sophomore and I'm missing 6 credits or possibly even more. I heard Junior year can be a really crazy year. What should I do? Do I stay in my current high school, or get out and go to a charter school to regain my credits and have more one on one time with teachers at a charter? The current high school I'm at is not servicing my "one-on-one" time with teachers that I need.
My personal opinion is you stay at your high school. If you transfer, you’re gonna have to get to know ALL new people - including teachers. I switched high schools my sophomore year and it was a nightmare. I wish I went straight to Kearny like I had initially intended to. The ones you know now are familiar with your strengths and weaknesses, and can help you if you just ask.
You need to make that one-on-one time with the teachers that you need help from. If you really want to graduate on time with all your friends, you need to take a few extra hours after school for tutoring (or even just approaching your teacher and asking them for help. If they can’t help you, then I’m sure they can suggest another staff member who can) or even go as far as summer school to catch up. Summer school isn’t even that bad. I voluntarily took a summer class before my junior year because I loved English so much, and it was literally only 3-4 hours a day for 3 weeks, I think. The classes were small and definitely helped me get the one-on-one I needed with my teacher (even if I really wasn’t there for help).
And if you don’t feel that comfortable asking teachers, ask your friends! If you know someone who excels, during lunch or for a few hours after school/on the weekends, ask them for some extra help, or to do homework with you.
Now, I’m not entirely sure of your personality and how well you would handle charter. It might be for you, and it might not. I know some kids who were able to graduate their junior year after going to charter, and I know others who are STILL at charter, and they were supposed to be class of 2009 or 2010. It all depends on your willingness to learn by yourself, because to my understanding, you meet at class once or twice a week and you learn everything on your own. You have to have enough self-discipline to get your work done. If you’re struggling now, I’d just stay at a regular high school and seek the help you need. There are resources EVERYWHERE!
And don’t stress too much :) 6 or so credits aren’t that bad. If you’re very worried about it, talk to your counselor. They can verify how many credits you’re missing, and since you’re only halfway through high school, they can make sure you get the classes you need in order to graduate on time.
Junior year is a CRAZY year, definitely the hardest of any year I had in high school. There is so much work, but trust me, after you get through your junior year, college is going to be soooooo easy. DMD (I’m assuming you’re from Kearny & a DMD student) definitely knows how to cater to the skills you’ll need in high school and in the business world. You can’t get that anywhere else - and remember that Kearny has won so many awards. Keep your head up! Like I said, don’t fret too much. 6 credits is not a lot. I’d be afraid for you if it was 15+!
